Biography

John E. Black represents individuals who have faced discrimination in the workplace, including age discrimination, racial discrimination, sexual harassment, gender discrimination, and religious discrimination. He represents people who have been wrongfully terminated or fear they are about to be terminated. He also counsels employees regarding non-compete agreements, severance agreements, employment contracts, and wage and hour issues.

J. routinely appears in state and federal court. He handles matters pending before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC) and other administrative agencies. Among J.’s notable achievements are helping secure a $1.8 million verdict for a pregnancy discrimination case; a $500,000 verdict for an Americans with Disabilities plaintiff; a $250,000 verdict in a racial discrimination claim; and a $50,000 verdict in a non-jury pregnancy discrimination case.

J. earned his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and his B.A. from McDaniel College. He is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association. J. has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® since 2010 and as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer since 2013.

J. is an avid sports fan, with three sons who play baseball. He spends a lot of time at the All American Baseball Center and serves on the board of its non-profit component, All American 360, a 501C3 non-profit organization, with a mission of empowering young players and emphasizing wholistic development beyond the field of competition.
